Tips for Improving Website Visitors and Search Engine Rankings

Studying the following tips for improving website traffic and rankings is well worth the time and effort. You may also take notes by hand or simply print this document.
First and foremost create a site with valuable content, products or services. Content is king as they say, better believe it because it’s true. It’s always a good idea to place your primary and secondary keywords within the first paragraph of your page content and then spread them throughout the rest of the document. Do not exceed the recommended optimal keyword density of 3-5%.
Utilize market reasearch for finding target keywords that will attract your ideal customers. Include your keywords in ideal areas of your web page such as the title, meta tags, headers and sub-headings. Keywords which are in bold text like headings and sub-headings help with search engine indexing.
Keep your site design simple so that your customers can easily navigate between web pages, find what they want and buy products and services. Try not to clutter your site with flashing banners and other advertisements as this will only cause confusion and lost visitors and customers. Too many things to click on will result in the back button being clicked or the big X to close the web browser. If your website sells products, be sure to keep the payment and shipping methods simple so that the customer experience is nice and smooth.
Some people recommend submitting your web pages to the most popular search engines. I tend to disagree as the search engine spiders are going to find your pages anyway. This is optional, about all I do is submit a sitemap to the big three search engines, which does the trick quite nicely. Should you decide to submit to search engines, always do it manually, do not use those automated services. Some of the automated services are scams and the search engines frown upon them anyway.
Stay abreast of search engine news, especially anything that could affect website rankings. If you have valuable content and stick to the rules, these search engine changes shouldn’t affect you. Use online tools and utilities to keep track of how your website is doing. Demonstrate your industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles for your website to the article banks so you are perceived as an expert in your field.
Monitor your competitors and the top ranked websites to see what they are doing right in the way of website design, navigation, content, keywords, etc. Use reports and logs from your web hosting company to see where your traffic is coming from. Analyze your visitor location and their incoming sources whether from search engines or links from other sites and the keywords they used to find you. Make your customers visit simple and give them plenty of ways to remember you in the form of newsletters, free reports, coupons etc.
If your not sure or don’t have the time to effectively maintain a website, it’s better to hire professionals and let them handle all the details. Though it may seem costly, it is a lot less expensive than spending your money on a website which no one visits and gets no sales.
Don’t look at your website as a static brochure. Treat it as an ever changing, dynamic sales machine, just like a real brick and mortar business that customers and prospects take seriously.
