My first main decision was to start a blog just to share my thoughts and experiences but now I have decided that I would like to make money from my blogging efforts. My blog wasn’t designed to make money, well it wasn’t designed to really do anything more than allow me to share my thoughts. I had to learn about some tools and techniques that would allow me to start earning from my blog.

1. Submit your blog URL to the search engines. If you want to be found by others, it is important to let the search engines know that you exist. Once you do, their spiders and bots will crawl your content and headlines to rank you amongst the others.

2. Choose your keywords. You can use keyword software or create a spreadsheet of words that you would use to find a product or service like yours. The most popular ones are the ones to use within your content. But there is more than one way to skin this cat. You can use keyword phrases also to niche into a smaller audience. Again, think of combinations of keywords you would use to find yourself.

3. Make it easy for people to stay connected with you. To that end, you can set up an RSS feed. Your readers can subscribe to it and always be updated on new posts without having to check in with your blog site each day. Then there is the social bookmarking site. It is all the rage these days. Get an account so that you can submit your posts here and hopefully be voted one of the tops so it can be featured to bring you more traffic.

4. Let others know how popular you are. You can do this with a blog log profile. Here you can show how many fans you have, their names and pictures. Also, list other blogs and any affiliations you may have so visitors can get a snapshot of you to know if they want to go further.
